I think most of the people who are aware of FF and actually use it have also download one of the various ad-blocking extensions. I’m considering using Add-Art. This one replaces the ads on a page with pictures of art. So no ads and you get culture as a bonus…good deal, right?
But very probably the geekiest: a chap called Justin Wickett demos how he uses Twitter to switch off the lights
Of course, he could have switched them on and off quite a bit in the time it took to develop this..but it’s still interesting :)
This tool is totally geeky - you can do a host or proxy trace via YouGotSignal. I found it strangely interesting to see the path everything takes. Good for 5mins of fascination, anyway.

This is apparently the mantra du jour at M$. IE has always been the backward child of the browser world (actually, IE6 is Damien). M$ finally got with the programme and IE7 had vastly improved CSS/standards support - and promptly broke a heck of a lot of sites that had been coded to work only […]

A comprehensive list of obsolete skills - it’s a trip down memory lane. I’d forgotten all about the tracking dial on video players, or having to blow into NES cartridges to make them work again.

A Dutch government website giving online training about safe sex was totally overloaded. Apparently “The GGD has increased the site’s capacity so that more curious youths can get safer sex training.” Um, yeah, I’m sure that’s why all the 60,000 were visiting it.
The site is www.vrijlekker.nl, but it’s currently down. YahooMicrosoft News has the report
“I will not include a self-destruct mechanism unless absolutely necessary. If it is necessary, it will not be a large red button labelled “Danger: Do Not Push”. The big red button marked “Do Not Push” will instead trigger a spray of bullets on anyone stupid enough to disregard it. Similarly, the ON/OFF switch will not […]
Found this handy site that will give you an estimate of how much a fare will be (not just London, also works in Barcelona, Madrid, New York, Prague, Rome and San Francisco). Handy for getting a general idea of how much cash you need to have on you.
