Hmm, I’ve just had my ears pierced (better late than never) and have been considering a tattoo for a while. What’s the opposite end of the body mod spectrum? I’d say getting actual elf ears and/or splitting your own tongue in two - I’m wincing just writing this.
I think most of the people who are aware of FF and actually use it have also download one of the various ad-blocking extensions. I’m considering using Add-Art. This one replaces the ads on a page with pictures of art. So no ads and you get culture as a bonus…good deal, right?
Astoundingly it’s one single picture taken in 1972 that is used any time somebody wants a pic of the Earth…and in case you don’t remember, here’s the picture and a sample of places it’s been used.
Weezer have come up with a nice clip for their latest offering “Pork and Beans”. Valleywag has the clip and the virals it’s based on. I’m not sure I think they’re the best geek pop group out there (although definitely the most well-known).
I’m partial to Jonathan Coulton myself. If you’ve played the awesomest puzzle game in ages - Portal - you’ll know his work from the end credits. My personal fave is the song I knew first, called Code Monkey. I’m terribly miffed that he did a show in London just *after* I left the place :(
LiveLeak is hosting a rather neat video showing how mobile phones have developed, starting with the brick-sized originals. *thinks back fondly to my first ever phone - Ericsson T28 or so*
But very probably the geekiest: a chap called Justin Wickett demos how he uses Twitter to switch off the lights
Of course, he could have switched them on and off quite a bit in the time it took to develop this..but it’s still interesting :)
You aren’t a true Apple fan until you own the 24-carat iPhone. Time to start saving for that gift for your special someone….
friv.com has a great collection of games. Something for everybody on there - they seem to be collecting games from all over the net so it saves some searching.
Slow news day: duckling rides on mum’s back
This story involves a penguin and a wetsuit…can’t miss for cuteness really.
Dog fosters kittens..awww
I love pixel art, and Smashing Magazine have a great article showing 15 of the best. I personally prefer the slightly rougher style of Lovepixel or the Adobe Air poster, but you have to admire the skill (and patience) of all of the artists.
